Preparing for tax time

 

Now is a great time to get organised before you begin the tax return process.
It can be a little bit overwhelming, so here are some helpful tips you can follow to get prepared.

It’s a great idea to start collating all the required paperwork. Here is a list of what your Highview Accountant will need to complete your individual return:

  • A copy of last year’s tax return
  • Records of sales and purchases of any shares, business or property
  • Private health insurance details
  • Spouse details
  • Children’s details including D.O.B

Your accountant will also need all your Income and Deduction information. Forgetting important information could lead to you missing out on valuable tax deductions. To help you collect all the relevant information, we’ve created a helpful checklist which you can download here. Once downloaded, print it off and use the boxes to tick off the information you have collected. It’s a great idea to keep all these documents together in a folder.
