Highview is on board with Food for Families

Christmas is supposed to be a wonderful time of year. But for many people, particularly those experiencing illness, violence, homelessness or crisis, it can be the most difficult time of all.

Food for Families is an annual food collection appeal. In 2018, the appeal aims to bring in an unprecedented 60 tonnes of non-perishable food and household essentials, to help meet the growing demand for support across the community.

Highview is on board for the 3rd year in a row. We will have donation boxes located at Cranbourne Reception and ask staff, family & friends to donate. Donations need to be in by the 15th of December, 2017.

Here is a link to what can be donated.

When people are experiencing crisis, food is often the last priority. By donating food through Food for Families, you’re showing them that someone cares. Sadly, with the cost of living in Melbourne rising and availability of affordable housing at an all-time low, the demand for food relief across Melbourne continues to increase. Unexpected bills are now the top reason for food insecurity in Australia.

That’s why we need to collect even more food than ever before, to ensure we can help every single person that comes to us for support.

When you give to Food for Families, you are providing comfort to people experiencing hardship. Once people are supported with their immediate needs, we can then focus on empowering them for brighter days ahead.

When it comes to giving, the little things mean a lot.
