Get to know Maryanne…

Maryanne was born & raised in Adelaide, where her parents & brother still resides, with her other brother & extended family living in Sydney. Her & husband Ashley made the big decision to move to Melbourne after Ashley secured a great job at Metro Trains. Bringing their two daughters, Naomi & Emma over in early 2016 was a lifechanging decision, but as Maryanne puts it “You’ve got to be positive & give new things a go!”

Maryanne’s accounting path began simply after following her parents career suggestion – often mums & dads know their children best & they certainly got this advice right! Maryanne always had a keen interest in problem solving, so after starting her accounting degree she quickly forgot all about her childhood dream of becoming a doctor. “Accounting & problem solving came to me so naturally, so it all just fell into place” she said.

She built an excellent career for herself in Adelaide employed at top tier firm William Buck, working her way from Graduate to Senior Accountant quickly. After 8 years in this fast paced environment, she was a sought after & highly employable Accountant – & Highview were incredibly lucky to have caught her eye when applying for Melbourne jobs.

Accounting aside, Maryanne & her husband have a passion for getting handy around the house & they’ve taken this passion to the next level working together on renovation projects. Both are DIY driven, combined with Ashley’s great design concepts & Maryanne’s budgeting skills they’ve renovated two homes. They are currently working on the third project – their current family home in Point Cook. When asked what parts of the renovations they take on Maryanne said “The lot! We’ve done demolitions, installed kitchens, plaster work, painted, installed lighting, landscaping & laid lawn.” She’s certainly not your average accountant – she’s happy to get her hands dirty!

Each year Maryanne looks forward to travelling to Sydney to spend time with her huge extended family (all 500+) There’s often a party or two with loads of Lebanese food and dancing. Maryanne also gets excited about the food – one of her fondest memories is spending entire days with her mum cooking traditional Lebanese meals. Something she still enjoys with her mum when she visits.

Travelling to see family isn’t the only trips they take. Maryanne & her husband are both massive cruise lovers – having been on 4 cruises to date, one being an incredible Mediterranean 20-night cruise visiting Italy, Turkey, Greek Islands, France, Spain & Africa.

Their next family cruise is planned for [2020 to New Zealand] & we are hoping she has a wonderful time – but not too wonderful as we want her to come back to Highview at some stage ha-ha!
